Colin S. Feeney, Digital Artist and Fine Arts Illustrator

Welcome to the personal website of Digital Artist and Fine Arts Illustrator Colin S. Feeney, an artist who enjoys creating fantasy and fictional scapes. Symbolically, the business name ‘SkyDream’ is suggestive of there being no limit to innovative imagination and visual creativity.

The artist is a multi-styled painter and illustrator who experiments with visual elements and techniques in unconventional ways. Resulting combinations of objects, form, and perspective intermixed with playful elements provide imaginative fun. The humorous elements are visually entertaining. With every opportunity, the artist takes creations in unique and varied directions, sometimes expressing an emotion or telling a story. Developmental patterns emerge through the use of vibrant color and originality in the compositional elements. The ethereal quality of the subject matter spans a broad range from fantasy realms imparting a mystique about otherworldly places to the visual impact of light-hearted, cartoonish character scenes.

While some visual representations are manipulations of digital imagery created using computer software, other compositions are created in the traditional way using paintbrush and drawing implements. Colin typically paints in oils and acrylics, although does work with pastels. The computer-generated graphics are explorations in modeling, texturing, and lighting. The music and sound F/X that contribute to making the animations come to life are original compositions.

The artist has lived and worked in Gorham, Maine, his entire life. As a small child, Colin began drawing cartoon-type fantasy character illustrations. In grade school, teachers were impressed with his ability to create imaginative compositions that communicated ideas and topic matter in new and interesting visually-expressive ways. With the emergence of sophisticated computer software and video games, Colin became interested in creating digital art. During high school years, Colin was a member of the high school robotics team and submitted a 3D animation to the FIRST Robotics Competition in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Colin holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Studio Art, with a Digital Concentration, from the University of Southern Maine. He has completed fine art and digital classes at the Maine College of Art, and workshops at different venues.

The website contains original oil and acrylic paintings, illustrations, computer graphic paintings, and computer animations. Creative software used at SkyDream includes the Ultimate Autodesk 3DS Max and Maya Entertainment Creation Suite, the Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection, and a Wacom Cintiq 24 HD Interactive Display.

SkyDream is open to new projects, collaborations, and proposals. The Artist is available to create unique commissioned pieces of art based on customer specifications or information taken from photographs or drawings.
